Well, My friend, FengYuan came across this book, Apocalypse 2012 a few weeks ago. It suddenly lured me back into detailed research on the Apocalypse 2012 yet again. I've came across the site which publishes the book, and the writer indeed has many many, detailed explanations on why this phenomenon is indeed real.

Indeed, we had predicted some of the factors before the book even came out, but this book obviously gives us a more detailed insight on the factors.

The end of the Mayan calendar is said to coincide with a galactic alignment in which the Sun will align with the center of the Milky Way galaxy. It is said that this rare event occurs once every 26,000 years and some predict it could have potentially catastrophic consequences. The theory goes that on the day of the winter solstice in 2012, the Sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way . This alignment could mean that energy which typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will be disrupted on 12/21/12 at 11:11 p.m. Universal Time.

first, a background on 06th June 2006. The number 666, is known to be a 'devil number', which is an omen of bad luck. Thus naturally, people would make a large hoo-ha out of it. A few months before this day, people were saying that end of the world would be on this very day.
Myself, i'm not so sure. I never really knew that there was a prediction on this on that day, i was still oblivious to the things happening on the net at that point of time. so, every thing i have now are all googled or yahood.

Reasons why 06th June 2006 was never an Apocalypse

As mentioned, it was a devil's number, so people would just want to make a big fuss over that day.
After checking the net for an hour or so, i still couldn't find hard core evidence that there was even a true prediction on this apocalypse.
The majority of Americans may well conclude that if the last 6/6/06 (in 1906) failed to end in apocalypse, they might survive this one, too.

okay, i know that this information is not much, however, i suspect that some evidences were removed from the net. but lets do a quick comparison between o6-06-2006 and 12-21-2012.

06-06-2006 makes out to be 666, the number of the devil.
12-21-2012 makes out to be 122112?

this means that naturally, people would want something to happen on such a day, 666.

not much hard evidence on o6-o6-2006.
many experts confirmed 12-21-2012.

nothing big was predicted to happen before or on 06-06-2006.
supervolcanoes, solar storms, etc all predicted to come/erupt on 12-21-2012.

again, there is not much, but i guess it is enough.

yet, while surfing the net, i found this very weird thing..

“Fox”. F is the sixth letter of the alphabet, O is the 15th letter (1+5=6) and X is the 24th letter (2+4=6).

although this doesn't make much sense, (how could a fox be linked to an apocalypse?).
oh! maybe a fox might come and destroy the world!

Since most of you guys all doubt the Mayans precision of predictions and don't trust their unique Long Count calender, their long-long ago 900AD civilization then i assume this lot of you all trust in modern science and experts, read on.

Powerful earthquakes terrorize Indonesia, experts warn of 'the big one'

PADANG, Indonesia (AP) — Days of colossal earthquakes and tsunami warnings have forced traumatized Indonesian villagers to seek safety in the last place imaginable: graveyards.
With only plastic sheeting to keep her family dry, Dasima joined hundreds camping in the mud between headstones on the flat, high ground, far from the ocean's reach.
"I am very afraid of another tsunami," the 50-year-old said two days after an 8.4-magnitude temblor sent a towering wave into her remote fishing village. "We will stay here until we feel it is safe."
Seismologists warn, however, the worst may be yet to come.
Kerry Sieh of the California Institute of Technology has spent decades studying the fault line that runs along Indonesia's western coast. He is among several experts predicting a repeat of the powerful earthquake that triggered the 2004 Asian tsunami, which killed more than 230,000 people in a dozen Indian Ocean countries.
"No one can say whether it will be in 30 seconds or 30 years," he said. "But what happened the other day, I think is quite possibly a sequence of smaller earthquakes leading up to the bigger one."
Wednesday's quake shook four Southeast Asian countries, damaged hundreds of houses and spawned a three-metre-high tsunami. At least 13 people were killed. A series of powerful earthquakes and dozens of strong aftershocks followed, including ones Thursday measuring 7.8 and another 7.1. There was a 6.4 quake on Friday.
The wall of water that slammed into several fishing villages along Sumatra island's coast Wednesday swept away nearly a dozen houses, but overall damage was "minimal," Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said after an air force aerial survey.
A nine-member UN assessment team reached the same conclusion after visiting the area, saying that a major international relief operation was not required, John Holmes, the UN's emergency relief co-ordinator, said in a statement from New York.
Many people said a public awareness campaign launched after the 2004 tsunami paid off, including warnings issued over mosque speakers and training provided by local officials on how to escape a disaster.
"When the earth started shaking, some people yelled, 'It's time to go up the hill ... Let's get going,"' said Fadil, 35, a father of two, describing how he and hundreds of neighbours watched from above as the three-metre wave approached. Hundreds of houses were damaged, but no one died.
Elsewhere, however, electricity blackouts prevented some sirens from going off.
The latest quakes, together with the 9.0-magnitude temblor in 2004 and an 8.7 quake in early 2005, deeply concern experts.
The fault, which runs the length of the west coast of Sumatra about 200 kilometres offshore, is the meeting point of the Eurasian and Pacific tectonic plates, which have been pushing against each other for millions of years, causing huge stresses to build up.
"There is a strong indication this foreshadows the big one," said Danny Hillman, an earthquake specialist at the Indonesian Institute of Science. "We all agree there is an 8.5 or stronger earthquake waiting to happen."
That's exactly what residents along Sumatra's western coast, which is expected to bear the brunt of the next disaster, are worried about. The island was hardest hit by the 2004 tsunami, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the deaths.
In the fishing village of Sungai Pisang, just south of the badly damaged city of Padang, hundreds of people were too scared to return home after the recent tremors sent a large wave washing into their bay.
Indonesia, the world's largest archipelago, with a population of 235 million people, is prone to seismic upheaval due to its location on the "Ring of Fire," an arc of volcanos and fault lines encircling the Pacific Basin.

Basically, Indonesia had 4 earthquakes and dozens of aftershocks and seisomologists studying indonesia think that all these earthquakes including the 9.0-magnitude temblor in 2004 and an 8.7 quake in early 2005, deeply concern experts because it may be a smaller sequence of smaller ones leading to a BIG 8.5 OR MORE MONSTER EARTHQUAKE to hit anytime soon.

But what is causing all these earthquakes? It is because of Indonesia's poor geographical location, it is the meeting point of the Indo-Australian and Eurasian plate which are constanly moving and hitting each other. Look at the picture below.

As you can see Indonesia is lying on the white line where the two plates meet thus it bears the full force of disasters that the plates cause when hitting each other. Singapore is just one small dot that is protected from the plates meeting point by Indonesia, we should be grateful to them ^^( elbert siew xD)

Well at least look on the bright side, at least these earthquakes were not caused by the largest volcanic lake in the world, Lake Toba which exploded 75000 years ago and was on a scale of VEI-8 eruption.The Lake Toba eruption plunged the Earth into a volcanic winter, eradicating an estimated 60%of the human population (although humans managed to survive even in the vicinity of the volcano ), and was responsible for the formation of sulfuric acid in the atmosphere. Phew.

Schools may postpone exams in the event of tremors

SINGAPORE : Singaporeans are better prepared to face tremors this time around.

A check by Channel NewsAsia showed that some buildings had put in place evacuation plans and warning announcements.

Some schools may postpone year-end exams, if tremors are felt on the day.

Students at Saint Andrew's Junior College (SAJC) were evacuated on March 6 when strong tremors were felt.

While the students at the school did not experience the latest tremors on Wednesday and Thursday, SAJC said they are trained to automatically head to the evacuation points if they experience any tremors.

Emergency preparedness is also a priority for Holy Innocents High School.

The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) conducted an emergency preparedness exercise for the school, as part of a routine programme.

If the students do feel the ground shake, the school has trained them on how to react, even if they are in the midst of sitting for their exams.

"We've told them to get under the table, stay low, and stay there. Once tremors are over, invigilators will take them out of the hall or classroom to the evacuation points. In the event of an exam, what we would do is work with the police, SCDF and BCA (Building and Construction Authority). They'll tell us whether or not it's safe for students to go back. Whether or not the exams will continue, we'll look at the readiness of the students," said Christina Michael, Vice-Principal, Holy Innocents' High School.

The procedure follows guidelines issued by the Education Ministry, which said the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board will advise affected schools on the compensation of time lost due to the interruption of examinations.

The management of some private buildings, like DBS building, have also taken the initiative to inform occupants of anticipated tremors.

The BCA said there is generally no requirement for building owners do so, because buildings in Singapore can withstand the seismic shocks from distant earthquakes.

Although some callers to the MediaCorp News hotline were concerned about falling debris from buildings such as in the case of Robinson Towers, the BCA assured there's nothing to worry about.

It has also given Robinson Towers the all-clear.

"The debris that fell off were small pieces of loose cement that was dislodged from the base of a granite tile. So there's no cause for alarm. As far as Robinson tower is concerned, the building is structurally very safe," said Ong Chan Leng, Director (Special Functions), BCA.

Police said engineers from the HDB and BCA have inspected all 337 of the HDB, private and commercial buildings affected.

well, since some people just want to know how the mayans predicted the 9/11 etc, i'll fill them up.
but first, do remember, even if the mayans did not predict the 911 or world wars, they predicted apocalypse 2012 and scientists, astrologists all confirms their prediction in one way or another.

first, a background on the mayans.

They've built pyramids. Some of the pyramids have been known to be Mayan Calenders and have 365 steps. The Pyramids are postioned as exact so that the Maya were able to know precisly when the Winter Equinox would start and when it would end known as the Spring Equinox through the shadow of the pyramids, therefore marking the longest/shortest day in the year

The Mayan year was more accurate and unique. Their calender consisted of a 260-day religious calender, twenty 30-day months with a separate 5 days at the end. The precise calenders were based upon careful observation of the planets, sun, and moon.

They have also predicted when the moon will rise and set and when it will be full moon. Scientists have known the precise moon rise and set throughout the modern day.

as i said, whether this came true or not in the first place is not really the main focus.

The Mayans were extremely intelligent. Their culture stems from thousands of years of people in south america. In 900ad their civilization stopped suddenly, we are unsure of why. The Aztecs were the ones who came into contact with Cortez. The groups of people around the Aztecs, who were being tortured and killed by them, led the Aztecs to their death withthe help of the Spaniards. I believe that the Mayans did know what was happening to their culture. It was becoming too large, too materialistic, similar to the Western world we see today. So they stopped it by going back into the regular world they were used to before, living in the wild. If you see Apocalypto, which I think was a wonderful, yet somewhat inaccurate film, it really shows that the mayans were just living in the forest in the shadow of the Aztec and they caused the whole Spanish integration.

900AD. that's why scientists didn't believe the theory about 9/11. until it really happened..

Many of you should have heard of the earthquake in Sumatra, Indonesia, or for some, even feel it yesterday. The epicenter of the 8.4 magnitude earthquake was within 200km of several volcanoes, including Kunyit, Belirang-Beriti, Bukit Daun, Kaba and Dempo.

Whenever the epicenter of an earthquake is within a certain range of a volcano, it could mean that the volcano is about to erupt. This could be the start of what is going to happen in the future.

Also in Sumatra lies the largest volcanic lake in the world, Lake Toba, who is considered mega-colossal and had an estimated Volcanic Explosivity Index(VEI) of 8 on a scale of 1 to 8, making it the largest volcanic eruption for 25 million years.

This volcano, although considered dead now, may 'come to life' later in the future, maybe near to the 2012 apocalypse date. This might also apply to Yellowstone Supervolcano.

well, if this was true, and you only knew about it during june 2012 (say the govt decide to tell the world then), of course you'll panic. but if u know about it now, its better ey?

so for people who dont believe it, please just keep your thoughts to yourself..

and those who dont believe it and call the Mayans idiots, really. think. do you research on the galaxy and the sun like NASA people or the scientist? why do they do this? for the sake of human knowledge. do you? no.
do you excel in maths like the Mayans do?
who are you to question them? a student who doesn't even do research.

for those who don't know, The Maya peoples constitute a diverse range of the Native American peoples of southern Mexico and northern Central America. and these Maya people predicted the world war 1,2. the 911 terrorist attack. and some natural disasters. and now, a calender which they made has a last day - 21st December 2012.

you might be thinking : why the heck do we trust these Maya people?. well, scientist have confirmed this theory. the sun will be in the middle of the galaxy. so a supernova might happen, or a comet might come. i'm not really sure.

when the sun is located at the southern star gate and Orion, with its northern star gate, is dominant in the night sky, will signify the termination of the tribulation prophesied in the Book of Revelation and the true beginning of a new age.
